Senior Living Cost Questions Checklist

The advertised price is rarely the whole price. Print this and use it on every tour so you can compare communities honestly, with no surprises later.

What is included in the base monthly fee?

Check each item the community confirms is included at no extra charge.

  • Rent and all utilities
  • Meals (ask how many per day)
  • Housekeeping and laundry
  • Scheduled transportation
  • Activities and programs
  • Basic personal care and check-ins

  • A second-person fee, if a spouse moves in too?
  • Medication management?
  • Extra help with bathing, dressing, or mobility?
  • Cable, internet, phone, or parking?

About price increases

Before you decide, get it in writing

  • Request the full written fee schedule
  • Read the residency agreement or contract carefully
